"Witches' Lust and the Fall of Man - The Strange Fantasies of Hans Baldung Grien". At the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, until May 13, 2007.

"Tibet: Monasteries Open Their Treasure Chambers". At Berlin's Museum of Asian Art, until May 28, 2007.

"erwin wurm: retrospective". At the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg. From April 27 - September 2, 2007.

"Christian Dior and Germany, 1947 to 1957". At the Art Library in the Kulturforum Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, until 28 May, 2007.

"Die Macht des Dinglichen: SKULPTUR HEUTE!" (the power of materiality - sculpture today!). Featuring works by young artists. At the Georg Kolbe Museum in Berlin, until May 28, 2007.

"Rodin". At the Kunsthaus in Zurich, until May 13, 2007.

"Odilon Redon". A major exhibition of works by the chilling French artist and contemporary of the Impressionists. At the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, until April 29, 2007.

"Polke - Eine Retrospektive". Three collectors present works by Sigmar Polke in the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden until May 13, 2007.

"Andreas Gursky". Works of the star photographer at the Haus der Kunst in Munich, until May 13, 2007.

"Op Art". A major show of works by 50 Op Art artists from the 1960s. At the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt until May 20, 2007.

"Bali". Works by Turner Prize winning photographer Wolfgang Tillmans at the kestnergesellschaft in Hanover. Until May 6, 2007.

"Art and Propaganda. Clash of Nations 1930-1945". At the German Historical Museum in Berlin, until April 29, 2007.

"As in a Dream - Odilon Redon". A survey of the French symbolist's oeuvre with more than 200 drawings, lithographs, and pastels. At the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, until April 29, 2007.

"Vor 12.000 Jahren in Anatolien - Die ältesten Monumente der Menschheit" (12,000 years ago in Anatolia - the oldest monuments of humanity). Badesches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe, until June 17, 2007.

The town of Guben in Brandenburg has installed the "Plastinarium", a permanent exhibition of the corpses of "the plastinator" Gunther von Hagens.

The Bode Museum has reopened its doors in Berlin. The museum houses the sculptural treasures of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. Neil MacGregor, director of the British Museum, writes that here Europe can behold its aesthetic, religious, intellectual and political history for the first time in three-dimensional form.

"Tödliche Medizin: Rassenwahn im Nationalsozialismus" (deadly medicine: race delusions under National Socialism). A guest exhibition by the Washington Holocaust Memorial Museum at the Deutsches Hygiene Museum in Dresden, until June 24, 2007.

"Mythos Troja." At the Antikensammlung, Munich, until May 31, 2007.


Film

"Goodbye Bafana". Germany / Belgium / France / South Africa / Italy / UK, 2006. Apartheid drama by Billie August.

"Mana: Beyond Belief". Germany, 2004. Documentary by Peter Friedman. What does a huge tuna have in common with Elvis' guitar? Mana, the Polynesian word for power or prestige.

"Twentynine Palms". France / Germany / USA 2003. Desert passion drama by Bruno Dumont.

"Vollidiot" (complete idiot). Germany, 2007. Testosterone comedy by Tobi Baumann, based on the eponymous bestseller for people who otherwise don't read. Not all men are idiots, some are complete idiots.

"Ballets Russes." USA 2005. Documentary by Dayna Goldfine and Dan Geller. Ballet Russes is a unique portrait of more than five decades of ballet.

"Copying Beethoven." USA / Germany, 2006. Race-against-time to copy the 9th Symphony drama by Agnieszka Holland.

"Der Photograph" (the photographer). Germany, 2006. Documentary of photographer Benjamin Katz by Jürgen Heiter.

"Am Limit" (at the limit). Germany / Austria, 2006. Extreme climbing documentary by Oscar winning director Pepe Danquart. The film follows German climbers Alexander and Thomas Huber in first-time high-altitude footage to Patagonia, and on their attempt to beat the speed climbing record up the "Nose", the 1,000 meter granite wall of "El Capitan" in Yosemite National Park.

"Die Fälscher" (the counterfeiters). Germany / Austria, 2006. Concentration camp counterfeit thriller by Stefan Ruzowitzky. It was the biggest counterfeiting action of all time. Over 130 million British pounds were printed in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp outside Berlin, with the double aim of inflating the British economy and replenishing the empty German war treasury.

"Hände weg von Mississippi" (keep your hands off Mississippi). Germany, 2007. Saving horse from slaughterhouse drama by Detlef Buck.

"Keine Sorge, mir geht's gut" (don't worry, I'm fine). France, 2006. Family drama by Philippe Lioret. The plot revolves around a mysterious family secret. At first apparently harmless, it takes on frightening proportions over the course of the film.

"Losers and Winners". Germany, 2006. Documentary by Ulrike Franke and Michael Loeken. 400 Chinese workers take apart the Kaiserstuhl coking plant to ship it back to China. The last workers at the plant help the Chinese take apart their job site.

"Schnitzelparadies" (schnitzel paradise). Netherlands, 2005. Comedy of cultures by Martin Koolhoven.


Opera

"Hyperion" by Bruno Maderna, at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

"Tales of Hoffmann". Fantastic opera in five acts by Jacques Offenbach. Directed by Thilo Reinhardt at the Komische Oper in Berlin. Until May 5, 2007.


Theatre

"Solidarität ist Selbstmord" (solidarity is suicide), by Rene Pollesch, at the Kammerspiele in Munich.

"Falstaff". Based on Shakespeare's "Henry IV" and "Henry V". A play about treason, intrigue and hypocrisy. Who uses whom, and to what end? At the Schauspiel Frankfurt.

"Das Versprechen" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt. at the Theater Luzern in Lucerne, Switzerland.

"Frühlings Erwachen!" (Spring Awakening!) by Frank Wedekind. At the Schauspiel Hanover.
